Optimal health and wellness is an state of being that is realized when one’s mind, spirit, and body are in balance. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), over $2.5 trillion was spent in personal healthcare expenditures in 2014 compared to $23 billion in 1960. Furthermore, 86% of our nation’s health care costs is attributed to treatment of chronic diseases. The CDC has determined four targets to decrease chronic disease and high risk health behaviors. Creating alternative community services to connect healthcare professionals and individuals that support preventative care and healthy behaviors will impact healthcare delivery. “Establishment of community conditions to support healthy behaviors and promote effective management of chronic conditions will deliver healthier students to schools, healthier workers to employers and businesses, and a healthier population to the health-care system” (1). Integrative Health Care Practice disparities exists for underserved populations due to awareness, access, and ability to pay. Collaborative WELLNESS connects underserved clients with integrative and traditional healthcare resources to achieve optimal health and wellness.
